In addition to the many requests that the DPOA has received for scholarships monies over the years, we have also received numerous requests for financial assistance with basic necessities of life, such as: overdue utility bills, prescriptions not covered by health insurance, rent, car repairs, etc. To answer these requests, the DPOA is proud to announce the availability of its’ Financial Aid Program. The purpose of this program is to provide temporary financial aid, for other than education related expenses, to disabled/retired police officers in their times of need.

The DPOA Financial Aid Program is designed to provide need-based financial assistance to disabled/retired officers. All applicants must demonstrate the need for the Financial Aid award by completing the on-line or downloadable application. The selection committee takes into consideration the applicants’ total household income, as well as their total expenses.

The Financial Aid Program is not intended to be recurring in nature nor a monthly stipend. DPOA Scholarship/Financial Aid applicants are eligible to receive up to a total of $1,000.00 per calendar year in financial assistance, whether for scholarships or other financial aid. Applicants may apply for scholarship monies, as well as financial assistance, but are limited to the cap of $1,000.00 per calendar year, collectively.

Thank you
Terry Morrison, President DPOA
